Posted - 08 May 2006 : 16:15:57 I hadn't intended hosting video tutorials on the site since the bandwidth on our system isn't that cheap and they tend to be pretty large, however I've just discovered that the company I've got the domain registered with are affering a pretty sweet package on 500gig of transfer a month, so I'm re-evaluating this. Is it something you would like to see? |

Posted - 31 Jul 2011 : 07:27:12 Hosting videos on vimeo or youtube makes the most sense to me. Then you just need a link. Hopefully the video can be displayed inline in a thread/post.
BTW, pBarrelas, vertexTutor has some videos on scripts & macros in Modo. The first I looked at was about a perl script (not python) but it might get you going.

Posted - 13 Dec 2006 : 19:47:13 Ah, right, yep, that is a lot :) The hosting that i set up for tutorial vids was through www.uk2.net but I think you have to have purchased domain names through them in order to qualify for the hosting deal. |

Posted - 13 Dec 2006 : 19:17:14 Well its both, but 90% of it would be videos. My simple portfolio site wouldn't be getting that much bandwidth or need that much space, but i would be putting massive tutorials on it lol.
SD+ through HD Res Videos, all in the range of 100-300 Megs... I wouldn't want to put all that on anyone lol |

Posted - 13 Dec 2006 : 19:02:31 Hi Leef are you looking for permanent hosting for yourself or for somewhere to post video tutorials? If it's just video tutorials then I was intending offering free hosting for those I just need to set up a section on the main site to upload and list them which is something I'm going to do over the xmas period.

Posted - 12 Dec 2006 : 21:10:31 What is the site? I'm going to be looking for hosting here soon too, and i want to get some prices before i approach a friend of mine (who hosts aswell).
I'd like to go with him as a host but i gatta get the most bang for my buck, and i don't wanna badger him on how he compares to other hosts lol. |

Posted - 12 May 2006 : 09:34:48 Cheers Michael, yep, I'd agree with that. I've got an inkling that there may be a flurry activity in this area some time after the release of 201 and I've seen a couple of people on the Modo forum in the past 12 months looking for hosting. So I thought providing a place where people without ready access could post video tutorials might act as an incentive for more people to get in on the act. The bandwidth deal is pretty sweet, 20 gigs of space and 500gigs of transfer a month for 26p a day which is cheap enough for me to swallow as I'd rather not get into a situation where the site has to be plastered with banners to pay for itself.

Posted - 11 May 2006 : 22:10:31 I'm all for as many video tutorials as possible, but I think it may be worth waiting to see what comes with 201 first.
There's bound to be plenty of demand for the videos, but of course there need to be videos available to host in the first place. |
